Altr Ego moderation response process

Published October 1, 2026.

Intake.

Two channels: the in-app report mechanism (fixed reasons, attached to the content reported) and safety@altr-ego.app for child safety. Reports land in the reports queue with timestamps.

Triage order.

Child safety reports first, always. Then reports on live profile content, then everything else.

Clocks.

Every report is acknowledged within 24 hours and acted on within 48. Child safety reports come before all others. Reported reveal content is hidden from the moment of the report until the decision, so the interim state is safe by default.

Actions available.

Hide or remove the reported content, including one entry on a person's page while the rest of the page stays up. Revoke or regenerate invite links. Close the offending account (block and link revocation both exist today). A block works in both directions and does not need an open round. Report to NCMEC where the child safety standard requires it.

Records.

Every report, decision, and action is recorded with its timestamp. If a platform asks for our plan or our record, this document and that log are the answer.

Who.

Altr Ego's operator is the responder of record. The process does not promise around-the-clock staffing; it promises the clocks above, and they are set at what one operator can honestly keep.

Changes to these documents

October 1, 2026: Added send feedback, on the account page. If you use it, we keep your words and the app's version with your account; nobody in the app sees them. The privacy policy's list of what we collect, and its deletion section, now say so.

October 1, 2026: Changed how the privacy policy and the terms describe your friends' answers. They said the answers were anonymous. They now say what we promise: nobody who answers is ever named.

September 30, 2026: Turned on the mutual circle. The documents already described it, in the changes dated September 22 and September 27 below, and their wording did not change.

September 29, 2026: Took a line out of the privacy policy's list of what we collect: whether you have turned on letting your circle see the four longer written descriptions. That setting was never built, so nothing was stored.

September 27, 2026: Added a privacy-policy section on anthems. Songs come from Apple's music catalog, and the words you search for go to Apple from our servers. A song's preview and cover load straight from Apple, and GIFs straight from GIPHY. Anthems have worked this way since they started; the policy now says so.

September 27, 2026: Changed who reads a verdict you accept: the group that tried you, not your whole circle. The privacy policy's section on who can see your page and the content rules in the terms now say so. The circle is not live yet.

September 23, 2026: Added a sentence to the trials section of the terms, the same one the in-app notice for trials already carried.

September 22, 2026: Added the mutual circle: a new privacy-policy section saying who can see your page, a fuller description of the service in the terms, a line in the content rules saying who reads an entry you accept, and a moderation update covering hiding a single entry and blocking without an open round. The circle is not live yet.

September 19, 2026: Added where a visit comes from: since September 19, each event and each new account notes whether it came from our app, a web browser, or another app's built-in browser, and on iOS, Android or something else. A new section, Opening a link, says what we record when someone opens an invite link or a shared profile without an account, and that none of it carries a name, an email or an account. And a new section says who can see your profile, in the same words as our website.

September 17, 2026: Added trials: a new terms section describing them, and two privacy-policy lines naming the verdicts you accept or decline and the charges you pick when a friend is on trial. Also corrected the moderation process, which now says blocking exists today. Trials have not started yet.

August 28, 2026: Added GIFs to meme weeks: chosen from GIPHY's catalog at its mildest ratings, never uploaded, never shared outside the app. The privacy policy's new GIFs section says exactly what changed.

August 28, 2026: Added the paid tier: a new terms section describing the subscription, an updated liability sentence, and a privacy-policy line stating the subscription status we hold. The paid tier is not yet on sale; per our own Changes clauses, this notice precedes it.

August 26, 2026: First publication.
